Technical Information Centre (TIC)

Established in 1995, TIC is an invaluable information resource for Scientists, Research Scholars, Project Students and Graduate Trainees of ARCI. It has a specialized collection of 1514 books, 1160 bound volumes, 56 current subscriptions to journals and numerous patents and standards. TIC is fully automated using a library management software developed in–house. Its OPAC is searchable on the Centre’s Local Area Network (LAN).

Services:
Apart from regular services, TIC offers value added services like Literature Searching, Patent Searching,
Patent Analysis, Publication Analysis etc., on request. TIC frequently organises training programmes on
various online databases for the benefit of its users.
Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC):
Users can access the catalogue of TIC collection on the intranet of the Centre. Also, users can view
their profiles and reserve books that are under circulation.
Inter–Library Loan (ILL):
TIC offers inter-library loan service to ARCI employees on request. It has entered in to ILL agreements with
neighbouring libraries.
TIC also has an agreement with the British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC), London to obtain various
published articles/conference proceedings on payment basis.
Membership:
TIC’s membership is open to all ARCI staff as well as Research Fellows and Project Fellows of ARCI.

National Knowledge Resource Consortium (NKRC):
ARCI is a member of the National Knowledge Resource
Consortium which has been recently formed with the basic objective of bringing libraries of all the CSIR &
DST laboratories under one umbrella to provide access to various electronic resources for fulfilling the
ever-growing information requirements of their scientific and technical staff. The following e–journals and
online databases can be accessed from the ARCI campus through the consortium.
